MiC working mums in the news...    

A key story this week is the Government's new initiative to keep children safe when using the internet. ‘Click Clever, Click Safe' is a campaign that encourages children to block and report any inappropriate material.  It follows a review by the Government-appointed psychologist, and MiC featured, Tanya Bryant.

In the same week as we hear about two boys presented with awards for not missing a day of school in five years, the Scottish Office have produced a guide to help parents understand their responsibility in ensuring their children attend school. Read how here

MiC tip of the week...   

Inspiration - motivation comes from within but it is possible to encourage and support others so that they feel motivated.   See if you can identify an aspect of your child's behaviour that you want to encourage and make a conscious effort to praise this behaviour by really showing them how you feel.   This can also work with colleagues at work.  It's about pointing out the positive rather than the negative, and using positive language with our children and others in order to motivate them to behave or perform well.

In this weeks news an article has been published on how ‘new mums worry about returning to work'. 

Over a third of women questioned said that they found returning to work difficult or very difficult. A third also said that their relationship with their boss had worsened since they became pregnant. To take a read of the full story click here

MiC tip of the week...   

Removing obstacles - Ask yourself what you're assuming is holding you back from all that you want to do with your life.  Write down the first thoughts that enter your mind.  Create incisive questions that will remove these assumptions and let your imagination go.  Make a note of all the possibilities for change in your life and decide which ones to go for.
